📘 About ads.txt
The Authorized Digital Sellers file (ads.txt) is an IAB Tech Lab initiative that helps publishers
declare who is authorized to sell their digital inventory. It's a simple text file placed at the root of a domain
(e.g., https://example.com/ads.txt).
Each line in ads.txt follows this format:
example-ssp.com, 12345, DIRECT, 5cfedf5d05475
The fields are:
Advertising System Domain Name - The domain name of the advertising system
Publisher Account ID - The publisher's account ID within that advertising system
Type of Account/Relationship - DIRECT or RESELLER
Certification Authority ID - (Optional) An ID that uniquely identifies the advertising system
Why ads.txt matters:
Reduces domain spoofing and unauthorized inventory sales
Increases transparency in the programmatic advertising ecosystem
Helps buyers identify legitimate sellers of a publisher's inventory
Improves brand safety by preventing ads from appearing on unauthorized sites
